Viñals mark imposed challenge of climbing the top 50 world's most prominent |

The climber Jaime Vinals lifted on January 17, 2011 the Guatemalan blue and white flag on the summit of Mount Stanley, between Congo and Uganda, the Ruwenzori region, more than five thousand feet, where he managed to impose a new record world climbing 29 of the 50 most prominent peaks in the world.

Luego de siete días en la misión en Uganda, el montañista guatemalteco alcanzó la cima del Monte Stanley, a unos cinco mil 202 metros sobre el nivel del mar en Uganda, en la región del Ruwenzori.

Viñals llegó esta madrugada a la cima del coloso que posee los únicos glaciares en la región de Uganda.
"La última parte del ascenso fue muy técnica. Estoy conento porque ya son 29 cumbres, esto lo realice junto al estadounidense Gerry Roach, quien también cuenta con el mismo número de cumbres alcanzadas en el reto de las 50 cumbres más prominentes del Mundo", expresó el guatemalteco desde Uganda.
La llegada a la cima del coloso se registró a las dos de la mañana de Guatemala, 11 horas de Uganda.
El montañista nacional ahora tardará cuatro días en el descenso que iniciará mañana y se espera que el lunes 24 llegue a Guatemala.
En este mes, Jaime Viñals alcanzó el jueves seis de enero la cima del monte Siemen en Etiopía y hoy sumó la del monte Stanley en Uganda.
